ZONA VII - Studio

The meaning of “Zona VII”?

One of the first pioneers of black and white analog photography, Ansel Adams, realised a technique than used to determine the best exposure and procedure of development with the aim to convey the whole range of tone shades of a particular scene.

According to this technique the image was divided in 11 different zones (0 to 10).

According to the Zone System, the feminine pink occupied position n. VII where white resulted almost burned and the loss of details was almost total; all that probably represented the purity and whiteness of the woman obviously referring to the standards of beauty of that time.

This is why I gave this name to my studio, to honour at the same time two of the things I love most: photography and the woman.
